Hey ya'll! Wow, can you believe this month is almost over? It's only almost February and it feels like so much in the world has already happened in this New Year. I know our state of the union looks like a match has been lit to it and we only have water buckets to aid us in putting the fires out. I've been having the song, "We Didn’t Start the Fire" by Billy Joel looping in my head since January 6th. It's funny because I will wake up most mornings with random songs in my head that do not go away until I acknowledge them by singing the lyrics out loud. Am I the only one? Please say no, I'm not. Anywho- this post is not about the ills of the world's social and political climate- it's actually about vision; looking above and beyond what you see with your eyes.
If you read my last post entitled, “I.N.T.E.N.T.I.O.N.A.L Living” then you know that this month’s intention or action was Imagine- begin to imagine what my life will be like as I grow, as I live intentionally. Write the vision. Speak what I seek until I see what I say. So my goal was to create a vision board. I know that I’m probably late to the party of creating a vision board since this practice has been around for lifetimes. Even in the bible, God says to “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.” (Habakkuk 2:2). In the simplest terms, you can make your vision plain by words or pictures on a poster board or paper and have it somewhere you can see often so that you can run or act when you see it. Visualization is one of the most powerful mind exercises you can express.
A vision board will allow you to surround yourself with images of what you want or desire beyond what you can see right now. Since our minds think in pictures, the pictures or words on the vision board will help to keep the goals fresh in our minds and reinforce our desires. If we keep the board in a place that we can see visually every day, this will constantly remind and inspire us to take intentional steps to achieve our goals.
I have made like one or two boards before, but I was not in the growth mindset that I am in now. When I made previous vision boards it was during some type of retreat in which making a vision board was an activity that was built into the schedule/program. This vision board that I just completed was different in the sense that I was led to make it for myself, I took time to really think about my vision and desires for the future, and I set aside time to put it together. As I was putting the board together, it was like a true spiritual experience! I did not know how it was all going to come together in the final look, but it just flowed so beautifully! The outcome was nothing that I imagined and more than I imagined!

When I was complete, there was a sense of release in the atmosphere and in an instant, my mindset shifted into an anticipatory state; like a supplanter waiting for the seeds to grow. There was this feeling of “when” not “if”. This is nothing but faith in action ya’ll! I guess what I’m trying to express is that by making a vision board my faith has been hot-wired in a sense! Faith is simply the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Heb 11:1). Whether it’s a vision board, a journal or list of affirmations of things hoped for, I look at them as the evidence and believe that they are ALREADY mine! They are already mine because the desire/vision was given to me by God. God gives us the desires of our hearts (Psalm 37:4), so when we write the vision/desires down in order to see them with our eyes all we need to do from there is believe it already belongs to us (by faith). Now, we walk in anticipation, ask for instructions, direction, and wisdom as to how to be in position to receive what already belongs to us. Isn’t this amazing?!

Let’s start this year off right and get in the right position to IMAGINE; let God in and keep Him at the center of everything pertaining to you, write or find pictures of the desires that He gives you, know and believe it’s yours, ask for the instructions, directions and wisdom (the how) needed to receive, move with the answers and watch and receive the manifestation! I am excited for what is in store for you and me as we dedicate this year to I.N.T.E.N.T.I.O.N.A.L Living!
If you have a vision board or any seeds of wisdom or thoughts to share, please feel free. I would love to hear what’s on your heart and mind. As always, I appreciate you taking time to visit and read my blog!
